The Color of Fall

First, let me say that my heart goes out to all those affected by Harvey. Living in Central Texas, we got our fair share of rain and wind, with some flooding of low road crossings that caused schools and businesses to close. Our power flickered, the internet was iffy and even our phones acted up. The constant wind and rain for days on end dampened our spirits but watching what those along the coast were suffering put it all into perspective for us. Still it was a joy when the wind stopped and the sun came out. I feel blessed and lucky that we didn’t get things as bad as we were told might happen. I have several friends in the Houston area and along the coast who have been impacted by Harvey, with flooding into their homes, but not enough to send them fleeing for their lives. So far. I’m thankful for Facebook so that I could (and still do) check in on them regularly to make sure they are okay. They are facing all this with steady hearts. I’m not sure I could be as courageous and calm if I were in their position. Many thanks  and “bless you all” to all the heroes who stepped up with clothes, food, shelter and rescue for all who needed it. It will take several months for recovery, but I hope it is swift for all involved.

And of course, with all that going on, the kit I had planned to release last week got postponed to this week. 🙂

Though I’ve lived most of my life in Texas, I grew up in northern Illinois along the Mississippi River. I loved the falls there. The trees turn the most vibrant colors in the fall. We often drove up through Wisconsin to “The House on the Rock” in the fall. The colors of the trees on the hills were vivid reds, oranges and yellows. It was simply stunning. It’s probably the thing I miss most about living in Texas. Our leaves do change color in the Fall, but not with the intensity of up North.  The “Color of Fall” is my tribute to all that annual beauty!
